Inspired by Joe Posnanski’s essay last week about Derek Jeter, I tried to take on the issue from another perspective—namely, that of a total Jeter fanboy—for Deadspin. Kids my age have never really seen baseball without Jeter, which is why it’s going to be so strange, in a few years, when he’s done for good. I’ll be sad when that happens, and so, apparently, will the Yankees. (Also, even though he might actually murder me with his teeth for writing this, you really should know that Tommy Craggs is brilliant and, as always, saved this essay from itself. So there, Scraggs.)
