On Saturday, Darren Everson and I wrote a Page One story for the Journal about the Toilet Bowl, generally considered to be one of college football’s worst games, ever. The twist? Well, it just so happens that Oregon, which plays tonight on the sport’s biggest stage, was one of the two teams that went scoreless on that rainy afternoon in 1983.

Here’s one of my favorite parts of the A-hed:

Mr. Jorgensen, the former Ducks quarterback, didn’t even play in the game—he got hurt a couple of weeks before—but when it comes up in conversation, people still assume that he was part of the inaction.

“I attribute it to the fact that I was a crappy quarterback,” he says. “You play enough pathetic football, you tend to get associated with some of the worst games ever played at Oregon.”

Hope you enjoy!
